Knots

On a boat, you will not miss the need to know some important knots, even as a simple sailor. Moreover, the term seamanship is used for the use of knots, and it is not by chance. The skipper must be able to delegate tasks such as preparing for mooring a boat, preparing a halyard or a sheet.

Even though there are hundreds of them, I claim that 90% of the needs are covered by 7 different types of nodes:

1. Chair knot

2. Capstan knot (also called boatman's knot, mooring or bollard knot)

3. Eight knot

4. Cleat knot

5. Single and double listening knot

6. Flat knot

7. Dead turn knot and two half hitches

In addition to this, you need to know more about it.

If you know these knots at your fingertips, I'll take you with as a teammate.

So if you still need a little practice, I suggest the following link:

The marine knots (I admit that I do not know all the knots offered on this site).
